A DYING MAN TRUSTING A DYING MAN (Part 1)

Writer: Nelson GacheruNelson Gacheru

It's about noon; two thieves, probably buddies hang in the sun.

In between them is the guy the crowd has come to see,

They've followed Him a couple of blocks now.

There goes the guy who won the lot for His clothes.

He must be quite a big deal,

To gaze at this fine spectacle is a size-able crowd; an international crowd for that fact.

His cross is different; It says 'King' in three different languages,

His mother and His best friend are among the people who have come to see Him,

The crowd is assorted with friends and foes alike.

On one hand, crying and mourning by the women and the common people

On the other hand, the soldiers and the nobles sneering and mocking Him saying "He saved others, let Him save himself, if He is the Messiah, the chosen one of God"

The religious folk stated the soldiers treating this as a cue also had this to say "If you are the King of the Jews save yourself"

Let's look up to the subject of this scrutiny; He has two gangsters on both sides...

In case you didn't know, He was among the good guys in town, you would mistake Him for the O.G. But here He was, for nothing wrong done. Before He got here, He has passed through trial by two of the most senior authorities who have not found anything wrong with Him. He is not here on His behalf but on behalf of the crowd.

What the crowd does not realize however, is that, what He is on the outside, they are on the inside.

Let's get back to the two gangsters hang next to Him:

One of the thieves hurled insults at Him saying if He was the messiah he should save himself; the other showed much humility and asked Jesus to remember Him when He enters the kingdom. Instantly, Jesus responded "Today you will be with me in paradise".

That statement in itself, crowned Him as the first person to believe in the capacity of the true power of the Messiah; His death, Resurrection and Glory! This man asked to be remembered in His Kingdom, not His church, not His squad, but His Kingdom! (To be continued....)

Cheers!

Nelson G.
